Opal M. Axtell, 74, of Morning Sun, passed away Saturday, Jun. 17, 2017, at home.

Private family services will be held. Cremation rites have been facilitated by Nichols Life Tribute Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine.

She was born September 26, 1942, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of John and Violet Carter Krantz.

Those left to honor her memory include sons, Raymond (Lorretta) Axtell of Morning Sun, Richard (Toni) Axtell of Callaway, Maryland, David (Debra) Axtell of Morning Sun and Danny Axtell of Morning Sun.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond Axtell, Sr., sisters, Mary Lou Miller and Elizabeth and Juanita Steckman, in infancy; and brother-in-law, Douglas Miller.
