He was born May 29, 1960, in Iowa City, the son of William Edward and Margaret Jane Schellenberg Streat. He married Lisa S. Doak on October 26, 1988, in Davenport.

He worked as a Security Officer at the Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch for eighteen years and worked security for many years at West Liberty Foods.

Bill loved and feared the Lord, reciting many Bible verses. He was especially fond of Matthew 22:37 “Love the Lord Your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

He enjoyed trains, restoring trucks, puzzles, family nights, movies, fishing, sharing the holidays with family, especially Christmas. He was a great artist, loved to write, and was quite the author. He was always concerned about others and loved animals, even saving mice from glue traps.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Lisa; sons, Morgan and Nathan of Muscatine; daughter, Amanda Streat of Grandview; grandchildren, Dawn, Logan and Levi Hathaway; brothers, Donald Streat of Davenport, Wesley Streat of Muscatine and Cory Streat; sisters, Jeannie (Martin) Mirfield of Port Byron, IL, and Regina (Tim) Mirfield of DeWitt; aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and a granddaughter, Gracie Jayne Sanchez.
