Obituary for Dorothy H. Westerman

Dorothy H. Westerman, 98, of Muscatine, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Unity Point Health Trinity Muscatine.

Cremation rites have been facilitated by Nichols Life Tribute Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine. Private interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lifetributeservices.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association or the Muscatine Humane Society.

Dorothy Helen Rodgers was born on March 18, 1918, the daughter of William Matthew and Etta Marie Eis Rodgers. She married Jay Frederick Armstrong. He died in 1938. She married Charles William Nyweide April 29, 1939. He died in June of 1963. She then married Ray Westerman on February 22, 1969, in East Moline, IL. He died August 8, 2004.

She had worked at Woolworth, Montgomery Wards and Whitman’s Grocery. During World War II Dorothy worked at Kaiser-Permanente Ship Yards office in Marin County, San Francisco, CA.

She loved to watch the birds and squirrels.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her children, William R. (Donna) Nyweide of Muscatine, James C. (Livia) Nyweide of Muscatine, John P. (Pat) Nyweide of Cedar Falls, and Mary Ann (Steve) Theobald of Muscatine; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, and three husbands.
